Introduction

On this 3-day Cyber Security overview course, participants will be equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the fascinating, yet complex, world of cyber security. The primary focus will be on laying a robust foundation of understanding into the cyber security domain and the terminologies, principles, and industry standards within cyber security.

The course will also delve into a practical understanding of technical, physical, and managerial controls – which are the building blocks of a comprehensive security posture and, when harnessed effectively, create a resilient shield against potential threats.

With threats in mind, participants will then gain a solid understanding of threat actors, what their motivations are, their capabilities, and some of the common attack vectors that they seek to exploit, looking at some high profile and relevant real-world case studies to help bring the key learning points to life.

The course will dive into the key technical aspects of cybersecurity such as authorisation and authentication, encryption, and how network security fundamentals can help protect your organization.

Finally, participants will gain an understanding of the incident response lifecycle and will practically apply this through an immersive incident response tabletop exercise.
